DOWNTOWN HAMILTON BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICTAbout The Business Improvement District
We're the downtown property owners who pay to keep Main Street clean, planted, and cared for. The work below is what those dollars cover.
The Downtown Hamilton Business Improvement District works to conserve the historic character and promote the economic vitality of downtown Hamilton; promote the health, safety, prosperity, security, and general welfare of those who work, shop, visit, own property in, and enjoy downtown; provide special benefits to property and business owners within the district; and serve as a unified voice for property owners and tenants.
Our Mission
The DHBID exists to serve the people who own property and run businesses downtown. That mission breaks down into four jobs.
What the District Does
Protect and grow downtown
Conserve the historic character of downtown Hamilton while promoting the economic vitality that keeps storefronts full and rents healthy.
Health, safety, and welfare
Promote the health, safety, prosperity, and general welfare of everyone who works, shops, visits, and owns property downtown.
Benefits to property owners
Assessment dollars come back to owners as maintenance, beautification, and improvements that raise the value of being downtown.
One voice to the city
Represent downtown property owners and their tenants as a single, organized voice to the public and to government.
THE DISTRICTWhere the District Is
The DHBID covers the core of downtown Hamilton, running along Main Street between the river and Highway 93, and reaching a block onto State and Pinckney. Own property inside these blocks, and you are part of the district.
A few parcels inside the footprint are exempt rather than assessed, including public buildings like the library and post office.
